Spring is in the air and we are excited about our next events! But first, let’s look back at February when, just a few days after Storm Eunice, we cleaned up part of Upton Court Park. Together with the Slough Rugby Kids First team and GoodGym, we collected 31 bags and lots of random items. Is anyone missing a pair of crutches? 🙂

The weather wasn’t great that day, but we managed to keep it dry by some litter picking miracle for that whole exact hour.

A special shout out to all the kids! After training for one or even two hours, they were still very enthusiastic about litter picking the rugby pitch. They all received a certificate of participation.

Also, the rugby club is always looking for new members, click here for more info.

And now for our next events: On Sunday 20 March we are participating in the HAPPY SPACE festival organised by Linda from Slough Happiness Collective and supported by HOME Slough.

This festival will be a place for everyone to come together and celebrate all that makes you happy about Slough. There will be music, singing, dancing, arts, crafts and much much more!

As you know, we are all about keeping Slough litter-free, clean and green. So, we are handing out two flower bombs to every visitor. You will be asked to wrap the flower bombs separately, keep one for yourself and give the other away as a random act of kindness. It inspired us to an update of the infamous poem of John Betjeman and say “Come, flower bombs, and fall on Slough”.

We have made the bombs ourselves from peat-free compost, red clay powder and bees & butterfly 100% wildflower seeds. I have tested some of the bombs in the garden and yes, something is growing!

Of course, the month would not be complete without a litter pick. To support the Keep Britain Tidy campaign we organise an Early Bird litter pick on Saturday 26 March. We will assemble at Kedermister park next to the guide hut at 9:30. We will litter pick for an hour and there will be coffee/ tea and a snack afterwards. There will also be a reporter from BBC Radio Berkshire who will be litter picking with us and reporting live on the radio, how exciting is that! Let show Slough from its best side and join us to clean up this part of Slough.

Thank you for your support and see you soon!
