Happy Space Festival

We participated in the Happy Space festival, organised by the Slough Happiness Collective and HOME Slough. We handed out flower seed bombs to all participants. Everyone was invited to wrap up two, one for themselves and one to give away as a random act of kindness. It was busy all day, and the results were terrific—so many lovely messages written for family, friends and strangers. If you don’t have a seed bomb yet, we have left spare ones in the library for you to pick up. If you have one, it is simple, throw the bomb in weed-free soil, where there is sun and rain, and wildflowers will grow!

Early Bird Litter Pick

To mark the start of the Great British Spring Clean Campaign and BBC Make a difference campaign, we organised an Early Bird Litter pick in Kedermister park on Saturday, 26 March; it seemed that 9:00 was a bit too early for a lot of people, but there were six litter pickers in the end, and we collected ten bags! Thank you for your help! There was also a reporter, and we were featured on BBC Radio Berkshire.

Easter Litter Pick with CCP

And on Saturday 2 April, we organised together with the Chalvey Community Partnership (CCP) an Easter Litter pick in Chalvey Rec. This was part of the monthly CAFF ( Chalvey Activity, Food and Fun Cafe).

There was a virtual egg hunt; children had to find signs, complete the task, and take a picture or video as proof. And on top of that, both kids and adults were enthousiaticly litter picking! We picked more than ten bags and random objects such as chairs and fencing! The families were rewarded with sandwiches and chocolate easter eggs courtesy of the CCP. Every month there is a different CAFF; for more info on how to join the next one, look at the CCP website.

Next events

What’s happening for the rest of April? Next week is Earth Day! We will celebrate this on Saturday, 23 April, with a litter pick in Lascelles Park, starting at 10:30. Meet us there in the car park.

On Saturday 30 is the Slough Together Walk. Organised by the Slough rotary, you can raise money for your favourite charity while walking a circular walk, about 5 miles alongside the Thames and Jubilee rivers. If you don’t have a charity yet, we are on the list 🙂 and of course, you can always do some litter picking on the way. Have a look at the website for more info and to sign up.

And that’s all for now; we hope you can join us for one of the events, and we will speak to you again next month.

Thanks again for your support!
