Litterpicking or visiting the fair in June?
You decide! But first, what happened in May?
Hello there,
The spirit of the Anti-litter community action is alive and well in Slough, I am thrilled to share the highlights of May with you!
19th May – Bowyer Recreation Ground Cleanup:
Organised by Cllr Ejaz Ahmed, we helped to collect litter in and around Bowyer Rec. The sun was shining, the energy was high, and we collected a whopping 18 bags of litter, a pallet, and even a carpet! Special thanks to Azha for the refreshing ice cream treat and to IDUK Group for their continued support.
25th May – Repair Café:
We had a fantastic turnout at our Repair Cafe back inside the Queensmere Shopping Centre. A huge thanks to all the amazing volunteers who lent their skills:
Jillian: A zip on a rucksack got a new lease on life, and a legging found a second chance with a quick stitch-up.
David: The leg of a stool which was broken (we’ve all been there with enthusiastic siblings!) got a sturdy fix, and a Dyson hoover is back to sucking up dirt with ease.
Clare: Not one, not two, but FIVE sewing machines came in for TLC. The majority were tension problems, but under Clare’s guidance, Kim, the owner of one machine, even learned how to tackle the problem herself.
Peter: He ensured all electrical items were PAT tested, and even though the lawnmower couldn’t be fully revived he gave Eva, the owner, a full diagnosis. The good news? Peter identified a motor issue that was likely causing the fuses to trip. The bad news? Replacing the motor can be expensive. But at least Eva knows what she’s dealing with now, thanks to Peter’s thorough explanation.
