July - Chalvey Action Week and Kedermister Park
But first, what happened in June?
We went litter picking in Kennedy Park with 12 amazing volunteers!
We filled 25 bags in 1.5 hours. A lot of litter was scattered around, partly because of the beautiful weather on the previous days.
We found a park sign and returned it to the council to be reused. An unearthed basketball now has a new owner, but the children’s plastic chairs weren’t salvageable.
It made us realise that there is much more to be done to make Slough more litter aware. Other activities are planned, all funding and volunteers depending, so if you want to be involved in any other way than litter picking, send us an email!
Chalvey Action Week 2 – 8 July
Next week is Chalvey Action week! Chalvey Community Partnership will organise all sorts of activities.
There are also some litter picks planned:
On Monday 4 July, there will be a litter pick in Chalvey Road West from 5.30 pm – 6.30 pm
On Wednesday 6 July, there will be a litter pick in Chalvey Road East from 7 pm – 8 pm
For the complete plan, see the schedule below and the website of the partnership
Kedermister Park litter pick on 17 July
We are organising a litter pick together with councillor Brooker at Kedermister Park on 17th July from 12:00, join us!
There is a carpark in the park, which is next to the guide hut.
Join millions of people in reducing their plastic waste.
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Will you be part of Plastic Free July by choosing to refuse single-use plastics?
Plastic Free July provides resources and ideas to help you (and millions of others around the world) reduce single-use plastic waste every day at home, work, school, and local cafes.
The movement has inspired over 120 million participants in 177 countries. You making a small change will collectively make a massive difference to our communities. You can choose to refuse single-use plastics in July (and beyond!). Best of all, being part of Plastic Free July will help you to find great alternatives that can become new habits forever.
That is all from us for now. We hope you have a great month. Thank you for your support, and we will see you soon!
